In July, August and September we offer German courses in 11 different course phases. You will cover one course phase per month. At the beginning of the course you will be informed which grade to join after a placement test.
All our courses take place in downtown Vienna. Our summer course programme is rounded off by a diversified range of excursion and leisure activities. We would also be happy to arrange accommodation for you in students' homes close to your course venue.
The language courses offered by the German courses of the University of Vienna are based on the levels for language proficiency described in the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages". The evaluation criteria specified in the checklists can be used for the purpose of self-assessment and as a guide while studying.
The trimester courses comprise 6 or 12 teaching units per week (1 teaching unit = 45 minutes). 6-unit-courses are held two or three days per week, mornings or evenings (alternatively). 12-unit-courses take place five days per week, mornings.
The courses are offered at 11 different course phases (A1/1, A1/2, A2/1, A2/2, B1/1, B1/2, B2/1, B2/2, C1/1, C1/2, C2). You will cover one phase per trimester in a course with 6 units per week and approximately 2 phases in a course with 12 units per week.
The semester courses comprise 15 teaching units per week and will be held five days per week in the afternoon (1 unit = 45 minutes).
You can start the courses at 8 different course phases (A1/1 A1/2, A2/1, A2/2, B1/1, B1/2, B2/1, B2/2) and you will cover approximately 3 phases per semester.
